Piano Tuning - $100
Piano tuning is the process of adjusting the tension of the strings so they all vibrate in pleasing harmony with one another. This usually takes approximately an hour and a half to complete. To maintain proper pitch, the piano should generally be tuned every six months to a year, even if it is not frequently played. An inspection of the inside of the piano is included at no extra cost.
Pitch Raise $170*
The piano naturally goes flat, most commonly due to changes in temperature and humidity levels. When each of its approximately 220 strings need to be tightened considerably, the additional tension load affects previously tuned strings. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to make a significant change to the pitch and end up with a fine, accurate tuning in one step. First, the strings must be raised to the correct average tension levels, allowed to relax for two to four weeks; then the piano can be given a precise tuning. If your piano has not been tuned in a few years, you may need a pitch raise.
*$100 due at pitch raise, $70 at fine tuning
